I am a Native Oregonian who grew up listening to a wide variety music styles. I started playing bass at age twelve and by eighteen; I was working steady in clubs playing rock, R&B, funk, and country. Later on I studied jazz and classical music at Southern Oregon State College performing jazz, Latin, Afro-Cuban, reggae, and Brazilian music. I have played with jazz guitarist, Herb Ellis. I settled in Tokyo for awhile where I worked as a journeyman bass player and composed soundtrack music. I played with Steve Rohbock’s New Orleans jazz/funk band, The Steve Loza Latin Jazz Band and with jazz guitarist, Kenny Burrell. After returning to Portland, I worked with Ubuntu Project which featured a hybrid of Afro-Beat, jazz and funk. I have also performed with many extended family members of Obo Addy from Ghana. I still tour occasionally with Loveness Wesa and the Bantus playing Zimbabwe dance music.
